Teaching

Kieran draws upon over a decade of teaching experience, including one-on-one viola and violin lessons, in-school music programs, and tertiary-level solo, chamber and orchestral tutoring. He is familiar with educating all levels of ability, and all ages, from absolute beginners to early professionals, early primary age to adult students. Regularly guiding students through AMEB exams from preliminary to advanced grades, he has also assisted students to gain entry into tertiary music performance programs. He combines this teaching experience with postgraduate performance qualifications from the University of Queensland, and over fifteen years of diverse performance practice (for more information regarding Kieran's performance background, see his Biography).

Current and previous teaching posts include positions at The University of Queensland, St. Laurence's College, The Springfield Anglican College, Mater Dei Primary School Ashgrove and Fireworks School of Music. He has conducted masterclasses and intensive workshops at Cairns State High School and the Queensland Academy of Creative Industries, and is regularly invited to tertiary institutions as a guest lecturer in performing arts career skills.

Kieran runs a teaching studio in the easily accessible inner city suburb of Wooloowin, Brisbane, and is also available for incidental and ongoing chamber and orchestral tutoring. For more information or to make an enquiry, please use the contact form below, or email kieranwelch[at]gmail.com.
